Renowned keyboardist Andrew North has a new single out and it’s a banger. ‘The Crocodile’ is the latest in a series of monthly releases landing on the 18th of each month. “It’s been so much fun putting these together” says North. “I just came off of working on an album with my band [2021’s ‘Phosphorescent Snack’ from Andrew North & The Rangers] and I’ve been so excited to get some of these new ideas out there.”

North stays busy leading his band, playing live all around New England, but he also finds time to add to his extensive solo catalogue. “I love how fast I can move when I’m working alone. Collaboration is essential to me, but I really enjoy having a space where I can just chase after inspiration.”

‘The Crocodile’ features chunky clavinet, shimmering electric pianos and layered textures under lyrics that poke at the anxiety underlying everyday life - “It’s easy to believe without seeing when you’ve been there before. You look into her eyes and wonder whether she wanted more…” The structure of a solid pop song expands into a crescendoing solo section, which is typical of North’s work. “I’m a jam band guy at heart. I try to avoid the clichés, but that influence is always there.”
